Chew On This
So I just recently watched a documentary called Food, Inc. (on a side note, for those of you who may not know, I am truly a nerd at heart. My guilty pleasures include reading books and watching documentaries, which is good for you because when I learn something new, valuable or interesting, I share it with you)…now back to what I was saying.
For those of you who aren’t as enamored by documentaries as I am, I will give you a brief summary. The title speaks for itself, it’s a documentary, not only about the food we eat but the food industry itself and what they are doing behind the scenes, not to give us great products but to give themselves great profit – all at our expense; I’m telling you, it’s shocking!
Up until now, I never really thought twice about where exactly my food came from, how it was processed, or even how the animals and even the workers are handled. I just assumed it came from the nice green farms and hardworking farmers (i.e. Farmer John) shown on the packaging; I couldn’t be anymore naive.
Genetic engineering, chemically enhanced foods, abuse, cruelty?? Gods perfect design taken over by machines and mass production…where are we again??
Harvest Time
But it doesn’t stop there, it goes to an even deeper level and deeper realization as to how disconnected we can be from reality and the ‘hidden’ truths. We (as a society) have turned a blind eye and are now reaping what we’ve sown. It’s costing us our health, the honesty and integrity of our nation, and even the power over our own lives.
I couldn’t have watched this at more better time because we all know one of the most important days for us is just around the corner, election day.
I will be honest, it wasn’t until this time in my life, that I truly understood the importance of voting.
By hiding from reality and staying inside our bubble, we have no idea of the consequences we will reap until it’s gone too far.
I don’t want to say “until it’s too late” because it will never be too late unless God himself says so and we are all still here, right?
Since we are all still here, I just ask and pray that you do the following:
1) watch the documentary, Food, Inc. because it’s not only enlightening but we should all know what we’re feeding ourselves and most importantly our children
2) hopefully by watching it, you will make some changes and will become more involved and even more informed and lastly,
3) Go and Vote!
Not only vote but do your homework, research what’s on the ballots and speak up for yourselves, your community, your children, and your future!
It's time to plant good seeds so we can finally reap a good harvest.
Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” (Matthew 9:37 NKJV)
Please share your thoughts below, if you've seen the movie, please let me know what you think.
As always, I hope you enjoyed today's post, thanks for stopping by.
(P.S. How this went from telling you about a documentary to encouraging you to vote, I have no idea!? I just write what God speaks into my heart.)
