Under Attack

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

‭‭John‬ ‭10:10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

When you hear the word ‘Devil’ or the name ‘Satan’ what comes to mind?

Do you picture a mystical creature that is just a metaphor for sin or evil going on in the world?

Do you picture a monster that lives in eternal flames somewhere far off in a place called ‘Hell’?

I find that people don’t often like to think of the devil or talk about him much because the thought of him is not pretty. Instead we just sum up all evil as being the same as the devil; just an act but not really a being.

Well no matter what you think of him or don’t think of him, the bible says that he is ALIVE & WELL and he prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. (1Peter 5:8)

And he isn’t looking for just anyone, he is looking to destroy those who love God and as Christians, the stronger your FAITH, the stronger the FIGHT.

Enemy Territory

It does us no good to ignore this truth because, how can we prepare and fight against what we don’t know?

Just like an army that goes into battle, in order to defeat their enemy they must first know their enemy; they study them, they know what weapons they use, what type of training they go through, they know their movements and their location. Knowing all of this helps them to prepare but it also keeps them from being caught off guard. And that’s just what our enemy loves to do – catch us off guard!

As Christians we are called to be soldiers in God’s army, that’s why we must put on the Armor of God, but that is not enough.

We have to know what we’re up against.

Enemy Fire

The devil doesn’t spend his time attacking those with little to no faith because they’re already right where he wants them. It’s easy to tempt them and deceive them because they’re already blinded by the things of this world – it’s those who have faith, those who are obedient to the Lord and those who are in God’s army that he is after; so believer BEWARE!

I definitely didn’t write this to scare anyone but simply to share from my own experiences.

The more I’ve been writing and spending time in God’s word and sharing his love, the more I’ve been under attack.

He attacks my thoughts and plants seeds of doubt; he attacks my time with God and brings on every distraction possible; He even attacks my marriage and causes division and strife.

The great thing is, if you put on your armor and know your enemy – you can defeat him. (Ephesians 6:11)

He may plant seeds of doubt but they don’t sprout or grow; he my bring on distractions but I immediately get back on course and he may try and cause division in my marriage but instead of allowing it to grow us apart it grows us closer together.

Maybe you’re under attack right now?

If so, are you prepared for battle or has the enemy snuck up on you?

Is he keeping you from spending time with God or causing division in a relationship or your marriage?

Is he causing you to be angry or depressed?

Remember, greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world. (1John 4:4)

If the devil is succeeding it’s only because you’ve allowed him to.

We have the power of prayer and God (the creator of everything) on our side!

So ‘Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.’ (1Corinthians 16:13) and gain victory over the enemy.

(I always pray before I write and ask God for wisdom and to use this blog and these posts to speak to someone. I know there is someone out there right now reading this who this is speaking to and I want to say, be encouraged, you are under attack but God is on your side; there is nothing that He cannot overcome if you just let him.)

As always I’d love to hear your thoughts on today’s post; feel free to comment below.

Thank you for visiting.

God bless.
