I just love how God has his fingerprints on everything. If you pay close enough attention you’ll find that everything He’s created, from the intricacies of nature to the vastness of the universe, are all examples of Him, His might and His love for us.
The Sun & The Moon
Let’s take for example the sun and the moon. Do you ever stop to think about the relationship between the Sun and the moon? How the sun needs the moon and the moon needs the sun?
The sun is powerful, bright and it lights up the world. It provides nourishment, warmth and life to all who bask in its glory.
The moon, on the other hand, is not so glorious or beautiful.
If you looked at the moon close enough, you’d find pits and craters and imperfections all over it. It doesn’t shine like the sun and it’s definitely not as powerful; it doesn’t provide warmth, birds don’t chirp and sing at the sight of it, roosters don’t cock-a-doodle and it doesn’t make people smile, it’s really just a big mass out in space. However, despite all of this, when that moon reflects the light of the sun – all of a sudden it becomes beautiful and glorious.
All of its imperfections are hidden and it beams with radiance through the darkness and subtly lights up the world; it brings a sense of peace and calmness and guidance through the night.
Though we can no longer see the sun during the night, the moon reminds us that it’s light is always shining.
Oh how the moon needs the sun like we need the Son!
We are just like that moon.
Damaged, scarred and full of imperfections.
Without the Son of God we are just a big mass of nothing on this earth with no purpose or meaning really. We are not powerful and mighty; we don’t radiate warmth or beauty or glory – however, despite all of this, when we reflect the light of the Son – we become beautiful, mighty and glorious.
Our flaws and imperfections are hidden, our broken pieces are mended back together and through Him, we can light up the world.
“No longer will you need the sun to shine by day, nor the moon to give its light by night, for the LORD your God will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.” Isaiah 60:19 NLT
So don’t let your imperfections, your scars or past heartaches keep you from shining the glory of the Son onto the world; through him, old things have passed away and you are a new creation. (2Corinthians 5:17)
So go out, be a beacon, reflect His light and let it shine.
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 NKJV
Are you reflecting the light of the Lord? You may be doing it and not even know. You may shared God’s love with a stranger, to the homeless or someone hurting.
