I’m sure by now many of you have seen the news clip of the man being interviewed by the media and speaking or ‘not’ speaking about everyone being offended these days. He basically said in order to not offend anyone you have to walk around with your mouth shut.
I don’t know about you but this gentleman pretty much summed it up in just a few seconds as to what this world has come to.
Everyone is hypersensitive about EVERYTHING these days.
No one can say a word without upsetting someone and so as a society, we now walk on eggshells and come up with fancy or politically correct words to keep from offending people.
I believe, if you’re not offending someone then you must not have much of an opinion because it’s impossible to please everyone.
And that is exactly how I used to be.
I’ve always been shy, ever since I was a little girl and I would constantly be fearful of what others thought of me and I came to the conclusion that my opinion didn’t matter and so I stayed silent.
Now as a Christian woman I can no longer hide behind this fear because what is the one thing God commands of his people? That we spread the Gospel to the ends of earth. (Mark 16:15)
As followers of Christ, if we’re doing what we’re called to do then we should be offending people.
The word says that people will hate us and mock us and persecute us but we should not fear because God is with us.
“And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.” Matthew 10:22 NKJV
Do you think God’s will would have been accomplished if Jesus was worried about offending people?
After all, what was the ultimate crime that He committed? It was exactly that, that he offended people.
If we’re too concerned about upsetting others then God’s will can never be done through us.
I’m not saying we should go out and start offending the world, however, if you’re living Christ-like than your actions alone will offend.
His light should shine so bright through you that it irritates, makes uncomfortable and offends those living in darkness.
We have a mission and purpose that is God ordained which will cause you and me to be uncomfortable; it will cause you and me to be mocked, disliked and even hated. (Matthew 10:22)
Jesus suffered the ultimate punishment for offending people; look what it cost him versus what it cost us – it costs us being a little uneasy, having to speak to people about Jesus and living a life that brings glory to God.
So Christian, I urge you – escape the need to please everyone, shun the desire to remain silent about Jesus and dodge the temptation of blending in with the world.
Look around at what’s happening, if anyone is searching for hope, the time is now; if anyone needs to know the truth and whether God is real, the time is now!
We should be the arrow, the spotlight and the road that leads them to Christ.
“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” Matthew 10:16 NKJV

I’m glad someone posted about this. It’s really becoming ridiculous the way every little thing ‘offends’ someone nowadays. I really think people are using the term ‘racism’ far too loosely. I myself have been known to crack a few racism jokes or perhaps use terms that could be deemed racist but, to me it’s just in humour – and sometimes even my friends of that particular race join in with the jesting because they KNOW there’s no real hatred or shunning behind it.
I’m not sure what happened to cause everyone to suddenly be so hypersensitive but it’s clear what it’s doing to the world around us…
In terms of religion – Christianity in your case – I really do believe sometimes things need to be said, no matter how harsh or no matter what it might make others feel. People are too afraid of certain truths these days that they just hide behind the whole “I’m offended!” act.
Really sad.
