For some reason, the Lord has been speaking to me lately about trials and heartache. 

I’m not sure why? Aren’t  the holidays to be a time of joy, peace and laughter; a time where families gather, children play and husbands and wives snuggle up together — I guess it’s because unfortunately, that’s not the case for everyone. 

Some are experiencing hurt, loss and/or great turmoil — there is no laughter, no peace, no joy and this time of year can magnify that pain tenfold. 

Those who are experiencing this hurt and sadness are the ones who need love and prayer and encouragement more than ever. 

Maybe this is you?

If so, then these are the times when you need to lean into the Lord with what little strength you have left and allow him to give you rest and guide you through the storm.

Let him be your strength, your rock and your hope. Praise him on the hill and in the valley and allow him to restore your soul.

Maybe this is not you, I can guarantee there is someone around you whose soul is in great turmoil. Take a moment to stop and look around; take a moment to look up from the phone, computer or pile of work and smile at someone, say ‘hello’ or better yet share God’s love with them. 

At a time when the world seems darker and darker and we are overwhelmed and unsure about what we can do, know that it’s never too late to lift a spirit, provide hope and encourage someone. 

If you are the one needing the uplifting then don’t be ashamed to share this with someone, as a family of Christ we are stronger together than we could ever be  apart. 

“Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.”‭‭ Psalm‬ ‭42:11‬ ‭

I pray for the entire WOW community, whether this is a joyous or somber time, that you would feel the Lord’s presence all around you, that his Holy Spirit would be alive and powerful inside you and that you would experience joy through him regardless of your circumstances.
