“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:1-2‬ ‭

Father God, I come before you and your heavenly throne; I sit here humbly trying to imagine even a glimpse of heaven but my mind cannot even fathom. You have gone ahead to prepare a place for us and I anxiously await our heavenly mansion. 

While we are here in this world, you tell us we are to store our treasures in heaven but I must confess that this is not always the case in my life.  As we come off this Christmas holiday and all the novelty items and unwrapped gifts, it’s easy to set our minds on earthly things; forgive me when I do so. 

I know Jesus did not come to die for these things but instead to set us free, this is the greatest unwrapped gift of all!

Father I am weak and I pray that you would help keep my heart and mind set on you. Keep me from these earthly distractions, help me to stay focused on you and to not be tempted by the temporary satisfaction this world has to offer. 

Thank you for the gift of your Son and what awaits us in heaven.
