Meditation Monday: Doers of the Word

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.” (‭James‬ ‭1:22-25‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Father God, your word is so amazing and powerful and true! You give us every warning, instruction and promise needed to walk in faith – yet, I am still constantly deceiving myself.

I am so guilty of often being a hearer and not a doer of your word. I often forget the kind of person I was and your amazing grace that’s been given to me. I know when I am not a doer of your word, Satan comes and snatches your truth right from me.

Forgive me Lord when I deceive myself in this way. Forgive me for being weak and easily led astray. Help me to plant your word deep in my heart, so that it is lived out in my life. Keep me on the right path and don’t allow me to become distracted by the things of this world.

My only desire is to live a life pleasing to you. Remove those distractions from my life that are keeping me from you. Keep me from being content, instead help me to put feet on my faith and give me a heart on fire for you!

I pray in Jesus’ name – Amen.

(Meditation Monday: These scriptures and prayers are intended to give you encouragement for the day and week. The Lord tells us to meditate in His word day and night (Joshua 1:8) so read the scripture, pray the prayer and meditate as you wait for Him to speak to you.)

Thank you for visiting, God bless.
