As I try to climb and claw my way through the thickness of evil that has enveloped our nation, my soul aches and oozes with sorrow. As the bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 1:9, there is nothing new under the sun and just like all the nations before us, we are reaping a harvest of sin and godlessness that was planted long ago. Evil is at work and where there is godlessness, there is lawlessness. All I can do is cry out to God and take up my cross daily, I ask you all to do the same.

“We put our hope in the LORD. He is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. Let your unfailing love surround us, LORD, for our hope is in you alone.” Psalms‬ ‭33:20-22‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Father, as our nation and world is in complete turmoil; as people fight, harm, and kill one another – one thing remains the same – YOU are still on the throne. You are still the sovereign King and our faithful God. You have never turned your back on us, it is us who have turned our backs on you.

Forgive us as a nation, as a community and as individuals for turning away from a God who has blessed and provided for all our needs. Forgive us for denying the God who gave us breath and life and love. 

I pray Lord for a revival in the hearts of believers and non-believers all over, that everyone’s eyes and hearts would be opened to your sovereignty and grace. I pray for us Christians who have been sleeping, that we would be awakened from our sleep and used by you Lord to share your truth and flood this earth with your light.

I am willing Lord – here I am, send me! (Isaiah 6:8)

Equip me Father to do those things which you require of me, help me to put on the full armor of God daily; give me strength and boldness to stand up in a world where right is wrong and wrong is right. I place all my hope and trust in you Father, please give me a heart to endure and a soul on fire.
