“The Temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT)
Father God, you are so good and so faithful to us. Even though we are constantly tempted and our flesh continually rebels against you, you always provide a way out.
Forgive me Father, when I am blinded by my own desires and when I am tempted to give into the gratification of what feels good now, rather than producing the good fruit that’s harvested through the waiting process. Whether I’m tempted to spend time reading meaningless things rather than your word, or tempted to procrastinate instead of crafting and honing the skills and gifts you’ve blessed me with, or tempted to slip back into old habits and old ways, whatever the temptation may be – help me Lord to have eyes to see the way out; send me a life jacket when I am quickly sinking into the tempest waves of temptation and help keep my eyes set on the course you’ve put before me.
I pray for those who are continually lured and tantalized by the tendrils of temptation; I pray for those who seek to feed their flesh with immediate satisfaction only to be left hungry for more – may they taste and see that you are good and that only you can feed their soul.
Lord please go before me this week and keep me from the temptations that lurk around every corner. Give me a spirit of strength and faithfulness to overcome them and walk in your will.
I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
