Uprooted (When the winds of life come blowing through)

Do you ever have those days or weeks where everything is going along smooth and then –BAM! out of nowhere chaos hits like a freight train coming at you head on — well that’s kind of how my last few weeks have been lately.

A mighty gust of wind came busting through and began unsettling everything in it’s path. As I was being blown about in the whirlwind, I began to wonder, will I hold strong or will this uproot me?

Then I had a moment, a moment alone with God.  It was as if the Lord took my hand and said, “I’ve got you.” My roots immediately dug deep and clung to his promises. Scriptures of peace flooded my heart and as everything around me was caught up in the flurry, I suddenly had a feeling of complete calm.

Have you ever been here? In the throes of life, swaying to and fro, like a tiny boat tossed at sea?

These are the moments that test our faith, our patience and even our sanity. The question is, as we’re pushed and pulled and sent twirling out of control, will we become uprooted or are we able to wrap our roots around Christ?

We don’t know when or what kind of winds will come blowing through our life but one thing is certain, they are in the forecast.

As I sit here now — the winds having died down — and look back, I realize how things could have gone so wrong if my roots were weak and had nothing to cling to.

Oh, how easily those winds would have uprooted me. Instead, all of the cultivating and seed planting in the calm seasons allowed me to become deeply rooted during the chaotic ones.

The point of this message is, we must become deeply and beautifully rooted in the Lord during the calm so we’re strong enough to stand firm in the storm.

“Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.” (Ephesians‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

I just recently had a storm blow through my life, it was very scary while I was in the middle, but I prayed through it all and God provided the words and the grace to get through. I’m not a great memorizer but I held on to the scriptures I do know. All things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose 🙏 Romans 8:28
Thank you Anita for your message and mostly I thank the Lord for always being there💕

I’m sorry to hear about the storm that came through but so thankful that your roots were able to cling to Lord. It’s amazing how those scriptures immediately come pouring in when you need them most. I pray that the Lord will continue to sustain you and cultivate your heart; I will keep you in prayer as well. xoxo 🙏🏼
