“So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.” ‭‭James‬ ‭4:7-8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Heavenly Father, I humble myself before You. I draw near to You in this time of prayer, in hopes that You would draw near to me. Thank You for this beautiful promise. Thank You for allowing me the ability to be in Your presence. Thank You for allowing me to come before You with all of my filth and sinfulness.

Forgive me when my loyalty is divided. Forgive me for being easily led astray. I need You and Your strength each and every day. Purify my heart, Lord. Help me to resist the schemes of the enemy and to be near to You.

As I go into a new week, I ask for Your Holy Spirit to guide me. Give me a fresh filling of You. Help me to resist the temptations and trappings that the enemy has laid out. Help me to be on guard and to walk in Your ways. In Jesus’ name, amen.
