“He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”” Matthew 9:37-38 (NLT)
Heavenly Father, thank you for allowing me to be a servant in Your kingdom. I am not worthy of this great call but You are merciful and gracious to me.
I pray that you would equip me with a steadfast spirit. Give me a spirit of discipline and focus to do Your will instead of my own. Forgive me when I grow weak and tired. Forgive me when I have those days where I’m just plain lazy. I know there is so much work to do but so few willing to do it. We live in a world that is dying and wasting away, with fields covered in weeds and thorns. Only Your word and truth can cultivate these dry souls and turn them into a bountiful harvest. Only You can turn a thorny heart into a blossoming bouquet.
You have called each one of Your children to do the work on Your behalf. You have paid our wages with mercy, grace and everlasting life; that is worth far more than anything this world has to offer.
As I enter into a new day and a new week, help me to take the tools You’ve set in my hand and put them to work. Please give me a fresh filling of Your Holy Spirit to replenish and strengthen me. Raise up a new generation of workers who are willing Lord. Let that willing heart begin with me. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
