Have you noticed an impetuous search for God’s perfect plan?
We buy books, listen to sermons, and watch hours of video in an attempt to grasp God’s intangible will.
Like a sailor on a constant voyage to unearth a hidden treasure, we too are searching within a vast uncharted ocean that is God himself.
We seek, search, and survey all in pursuit of His perfect plan. All the while, we completely discount the fact that there is nothing to “discover”. The hidden treasure we seek has been right before us all along.
“One of the most freeing discoveries of my life has come from simply trusting that the divine DNA within me will naturally manifest itself through me.” -Priscilla Shirer, Discerning the Voice of God
Through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, God’s will is implanted inside of us. As soon as the Holy Spirit takes residence within us, He begins seeping and oozing into every aspect of our lives. He guides, directs, and aligns us with the Father’s will. There’s no searching or scouring required; there’s only a need for surrender.
“Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.” John 3:6 (NLT)
To tap into this gift, we simply need to:
Yield to Him.
Obey Him.
Trust Him.
When we do, our desires are shaped and molded into His desires. Our selfish ambitions begin to lose their luster; they no longer draw us in and capture our attention. Instead, a new more vibrant passion is born. Little by little, the Lord equips and prepares us for His plan.
“So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.” Galatians 5:16 (NLT)
How freeing to know we can stop striving, climbing, and clawing our way to what we think should unfold. We can stop seeking “God’s will” and instead, rest in knowing we already have this precious treasure buried within us. Allow the Holy Spirit to have full access to every hidden crevasse of your heart and watch how God’s will unfolds right before you.
“Stop frantically searching for God’s will; start frantically searching for God himself.” -Priscilla Shirer, Discerning the Voice of God
Stop & Reflect: Do you find yourself in constant pursuit of God’s will, more so than God himself? What is one thing you can do today to surrender and allow the Holy Spirit to go to work? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
God bless,

I try every day to surrender to the Lord by staying in gratitude. When I have a grateful heart that is when I feel close to God. Thank you Anita for this amazing message. God bless 🦋

Yes, I agree. This is such a true statement. I notice a big difference when I’m self-focused versus God-focused. When I take the time to either, say out loud or journal the things I’m grateful for, it completely changes my perspective. Thank you so much for sharing and for the reminder to have a grateful heart❣️
