Meditation Monday: Light of The World

““You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” Matthew‬ ‭5:14-16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Heavenly Father, thank You for filling me with the light of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You for driving out the darkness and illuminating my soul. I once was sleepwalking through the night but You opened my eyes to a glorious new day.

Lord, forgive me for those times when I hide my light out of fear of what others may think or say. Forgive me when I’m not being replenished by Your Holy Spirit and allow my light to grow dim. I know You call each child of Yours to be salt and light in this world. As Your word says, a lamp is not meant to be hidden but rather it’s meant to shine forth for all to see.

Lord, I pray for those who are walking in darkness and for those who are blinded by their own pride and selfishness. I pray You would open their eyes to Your saving grace. Shine Your light into all their dark paces and help them to see their need for a savior.

Please go before me this week Lord. Help me to shine the light that dwells within me, not of my own doing but by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Please reignite the fire where my light has grown dim and may my life glorify and praise You always. In Jesus’ name, amen.
