Meditation Monday: Suffering Produces Perserverence

“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” Romans 5:3-4

Heavenly Father, although it’s hard in the midst of suffering, I look back and thank you for all that I have endured. Thank You for using the trials I’ve faced to produce perseverance and character and most importantly HOPE. You have kept to Your promise and have worked it all together for good and I know You’ll do the same in any trial I may face in the future.

You are a faithful God.

A loving God.

A gracious God.

I can say this with more love and affection because of the sufferings I’ve endured. Just as Job said, “I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes.” Job 42:5.

Forgive me for trying to bypass the suffering. Forgive me for trying to take the easy way out sometimes. Just like the muscles in our body, our spiritual muscles are only stretched and strengthened through the pain. Please don’t allow me to lead a spiritually weak life. Help me to be energized and strengthened through the power of Your Holy Spirit. When I feel like I’ve hit my limit, help me to dig deep and find more. Continue to produce perseverance and character and hope within me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
