Meditation Monday: All Scripture is Inspired by God

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Heavenly Father, thank you for your Holy Word. Thank you for giving us all the instruction, direction, and wisdom needed to navigate through this life. You have written out a beautiful love letter for each one of us to read. In doing so, we know you better; we know your character, your plans for us and we get to know your unfailing love. Your word keeps us on the right path and protects us from the pitfalls of the enemy.

The good thing is all we have to do is spend time in your word to uncover these mysteries. The bad thing is, we are so distracted and easily led astray that spending time in your word is not as easy as it should be. I am guilty of neglecting your word and letting other priorities take precedence more often than I’d like to admit. Forgive me Lord for starving my soul of the nutrients it is so desperately needing.

Lord please go before this week and give me the self-discipline needed to focus my attention on You. Help me to remember that your word is written in the blood of Jesus Christ and that it’s more powerful than any two-edged sword. Help me to spend time in your presence in order to be equipped for the good work you have planned for me. In Jesus name, amen.
